Dual 115 GTC Generator Installation on New Electric Passenger Ferry

A magnificent electric passenger ferry, built by Finnish shipyard Kewatec, has been equipped with two Solé 115 GTC Generator Sets, installed in parallel by our official distributor in Finland, Tekno Marine.

This newly built vessel is powered by a 150 kW electric motor and lithium batteries, and the Solé gensets supply energy to the propulsion system, battery charging and all auxiliary onboard equipment.

In line with the project’s sustainability goals, the generators are compatible with HVO fuel, reducing the vessel’s environmental impact without compromising performance or autonomy.

The generator sets were delivered in soundproof enclosures and additionally integrated into custom metal compartments, a fire prevention measure typically implemented by the shipyard.

Several additional kits were included in the installation to enhance safety and functionality:
• ComAp AMF25 control panels, fitted with dual communication cards (Ethernet and RS232-485)
• Anti-siphon kit, to prevent water ingress into the genset
• Dual control panel pack, enabling monitoring from two locations
• Floating ground kit, for galvanic isolation of the electrical system

This technically advanced project is a clear example of how Solé solutions adapt seamlessly to new-generation vessels, combining efficiency, sustainability and reliability.
